Dr. Ngo Choon Woon is a Consultant Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeon at Hospital Enche’ Besar Hajjah Khalsom, Johor. He trained in upper GI surgery in Malaysia and Taiwan. He developed a particular interest in upper gastrointestinal, metabolic and bariatric surgery, as well as complex foregut pathology. He is actively involved in expanding UGI surgical services in Johor and the East Coast of Malaysia, with a focus on collaborative, multidisciplinary care. Dr. Ngo is a member of the College of Surgeons, Academy of Medicine of Malaysia (CSAMM), the Malaysian Upper Gastrointestinal Surgical Society (MUGIS), and the Malaysian Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (MSMBS). Internationally, he is affiliated with the International Society of Surgery (ISS) and the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (IFSO). In addition, he is actively engaged in surgical education, mentoring junior doctors and advocating for structured training in minimally invasive approaches. His academic interests include perioperative nutrition, metabolic surgery, and service development in resource-limited settings.
