Dr. Voraboot Taweerutchana is an Assistant Professor and consultant in the Minimally Invasive Surgery Unit of the Department of Surgery at Siriraj Hospital, Faculty of Medicine, Mahidol University in Bangkok. He became board-certified in General Surgery by the Royal College of Surgeons of Thailand in 2011. He completed a Clinical Fellowship in Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery at E‑Da Hospital, Taiwan, in 2014, and an Advanced Fellowship in Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), in 2015. His areas of interest include minimally invasive techniques, such as bariatric and metabolic surgery, endocrine operations (adrenal, pancreas), and benign foregut procedures, utilizing endoscopic, laparoscopic, and robotic approaches. He performed the first endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty and the first robotic bariatric surgery in Thailand. In addition, he contributes to research and has co-authored publications on topics such as robotic surgery, surgical smoke in laparoscopy, and outcomes of gastrointestinal and bariatric surgery. He has also proctored many surgeons across Southeast Asia in performing robotic general surgery safely and efficiently.
